I heard the fishing up on Rainy was a little tough this past weekend. Anybody do well up there?

Went up to old Lake of the woods last weekend and I will have to admit it was one of the best weekends of fishing ive ever had. We worked in about 17-19 feet of water on the rainy river. We managed to pull in our limit and then some. The lake got heavy pressure from fishermen early and often. We used minnows with different colored jigs, the walleyes seemed to be biting on shiners all day. Good Luck to all other fisherman out there! Birdman Out

braved the wind and rain on mille lacs for the opener. managed to keep 15 and thru back another half dozen slot fish with the biggest being a 27.5" fatty. not a lot of traffic on the water with the poor conditions for opener. the majority of the fish we caught were in 17-25 off of rock points.

Went up to Mille Lacs today. We were fishing in about 16 feet of water trying to stay near the sandy areas of the body of water using jigs and lindy rigs with leeches and shinners to catch some fish. As a party we did well ...... However the weather was pretty brutal but I guess thats why they say "it takes a man to do man things". I will say today was a eye opening experience considering the fact that I was able to hook a Muskie on while I was walleye fishing using a lindy rig and a shiner. When I hooked it I initially thought I snagged on a rock .... eventually when my line took off I realized this fish was bigger than the pound test that I had rigged up.... at the end of this extravaganza I got the Muskie 3 feet from the boat and the net was ready and of course ..... my line breaks because the Muskie new it was about to be photographed on BU.com ...... Anyways this is just a shout out to all the almost big trophy fisherman out there and I now know your pain... Birdman Out
